WASHING LINE GAME workshop 2010
WASHING LINE GAME workshop 2010
With the “Washing Line Game”, Grupo Oito intends to create a performance with the involvement of the audience. The spectator is invited to leave his passive place of an art consumer and to participate in the creative process.
In 2007, this was put in practice with the premiere of the Washing Line Game at Academia Jangada (Berlin). Grupo Oito would like to take this one step further, combining workshop and performance, allowing the audience to experience a complete creative process.
The aim of the workshop is to combine the “Get Physical Process” movement with the creative improvisational elements of the Washing Line Game.
The concept of Get Physical Process is the combination of theory with practice – establishing strong, efficient alignment and stretch distribution, whilst providing the body with greater articulation and range. The floor technique aligns and moves the body through space using the skeletal and muscular system. Modern contemporary dance and Capoeira with contact is the base source for this movement, and it’s these elements which make the difference of 'Get Physical Process'. That creates strong possibility for change.
Grupo Oito is interested in identity - an identity fragile to media representation, fashion and body image. With the Color Game and Proposal Game, workshop participants will have the opportunity to explore the boundary of their identity within a structured improvisation. Clothes become to a tool to create new movement. The body becomes an object to be manipulated.
